Conditions of Play and Qualification
1. The Championship shall be played in accordance with the R&A Rules Limited and such Local Rules as shall be approved by the Championship Committee.
2. The Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters Golf Championship is open to boys of all Nationalities. Competitors must be of Amateur Status as defined by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews.
3. In all cases individual entry must be made by means of the official entry form:
(a) All entries must be made on the attached entry form and must be received by the Championship Committee on or before noon, Saturday 22nd May 2010.
(b) All such entry forms must be accompanied by the stipulated entry fee of £40. One cheque/PO per entry only. Single cheques/POs covering two or more entries will not be accepted.
(c) Entries by telephone will not be accepted. Entries by telegram, telex cable or fax will only be accepted if the entry form is fully completed, signed personally by the entrant and entrance fees payable, arrive on or before the closing date. The handicap must be certified by the appropriate Authority as prescribed in section 13.
(d) No entry fee will be refunded unless intention of scratching is received before the closing date, except for any entrant who is balloted out and who does not subsequently compete. (See paragraph 14)
(e) All entries shall be subject to the approval of the Championship Committee who reserve the right to accept or refuse any entry without giving reason for their decision, which shall be final.
4. The Championship Committee reserve the right to fix and/or alter starting times. Any competitor who is not on the tee five minutes before their allotted tee time, or when called by the starter’s assistant, will be disqualified.
5. If it becomes impossible to complete the Championship because of adverse weather conditions or other circumstances which, in the opinion of the Championship Committee, make it impossible or impractical to do so the Championship Committee shall be empowered to vary such Conditions to the extent necessary to achieve a result in the time available.
6. All competitors will be required to play with golf balls which are on the R&A Rules Limited list of Conforming Golf Balls at the date of the Championship. PENALTY for breach of condition: Disqualification.
7. Competitors will not be permitted to ride in motorised buggies. PENALTY for breach of condition: Disqualification.
8. A competitor shall not knowingly make use of any drug to enhance performance. As a condition of entry competitors agree to comply with the English Golf Union Ltd Anti Doping Policy. The full list of prohibited drugs is available from UK Sport (www.uksport.gov.uk <http://www.uksport.gov.uk>). Any competitor infringing this condition or, if asked to do so, refusing to take a test, may be disqualified.
9. All disputes shall be settled by the Championship Committee whose decision shall be final.
10. Conditions of Play:
(a) Players MUST present a valid, current handicap certificate at registration.
(b) The Championship shall be played by Stroke Play over 72 holes.
(c) The 36 players (+ ties) with the lowest gross scores after 36 holes on Saturday will go forward to play the final 36 holes on Sunday.
(d) The Champion shall be the competitor who returns the lowest gross score over 72 holes. In the event of a tie for first place, there will be a sudden death play-off to decide the winner. The sequence of holes shall be decided by the Committee.
(e) Only caddies under the age of 18 may be used throughout the tournament. (born in 1992 or later.)
11. Prizes: Trophies and vouchers (redeemable only in Nizels’ Professional Shop) will be awarded for the lowest gross scores as follows:

12. Qualification: To be eligible to apply, a player must be:
(a) In possession of a handicap not exceeding 2.4 under the current Standard Scratch Score and Handicapping Scheme of the Council of National Golf Unions.
(b) A boy born in 1992 or later.
13. Entry must be made on the attached form: in the case of a person who is a member of a Golf Club in Great Britain and Ireland the Entry Form must be signed by the Secretary or Handicapping Authority of the player’s home club;
An overseas player may enter individually, with the entry form signed by his Secretary or Handicapping Authority, or they may enter through the Recognised National Authority controlling golf in the country from which he wishes to enter.
14. Ballot: Where the entries exceed 72 in number, there will be a ‘ballot’ amongst the highest handicaps to reduce the entry to that number. Players eliminated in this way will be kept on a reserve list, should vacancies arise later. Balloted-out players not filling any vacant places will not have their entry fees banked and any postal orders will be refunded.
15. Dress code: On the course, only recognised golfwear must be worn. Every competitor will be awarded a unique Junior Masters bag tag which must be carried at all times. The 36 players (+ ties) who go forward to the final 36 holes on Sunday will be awarded a Junior Masters golf shirt, which must be worn during play. In the Clubhouse, smart golf wear (no spiked shoes) is permitted during the day. 
16. One courtesy practice round will be provided by Nizels Golf Club prior to the Championship, date and time to be arranged with the pro shop. (Competitors may be asked to make up 4-balls for practice). Participation in the Junior-’Pro’/Am does not constitute or replace a practice round.
17. For each days play a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play( e.g. gradient, wind speed, temperature etc.) the player is in breach of Distance Measuring Devices Rules of Golf (14.3), for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used. This condition will be included in the Local Rules of the Competition
18. Cell phones must be switched off at all times in the clubhouse and on the course. PENALTY for breach of condition: 2 shots.
19. On the first day of the Championship, competitors must arrive at the course at least one hour before their allotted tee time, and be in possession of a current valid handicap certificate signed by their home club Secretary or Handicapping Authority, UNLESS they have entered their unique CDH identification number on the entry form, and their parental consent form.
20. Competitors agree that any official photographs taken during the tournament may be used by the organisers for promotional purposes.
21. If the applicant’s handicap changes after this entry form has been sent, the Tournament Director must be notified immediately on 01732 45 14 79.
22. Participation of ‘Junior Masters’ in the Junior-’Pro’/Am on the Friday is by invitation only. Invited players will be notified two weeks prior to the event and must make themselves available at 8am on Friday. Entry is free and includes breakfast, lunch, prizes and entertainment. Players are expected to interact with their playing partners during play, and must remain with their team mates throughout the luncheon.
23. Full results will be published at the end of play each day on www.juniormasters.net and will be emailed automatically at the end of each round to the email addresses entered on the entry form. Email addresses will not be disclosed to third parties.
