TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The Junior Masters is an official R&A Major, used for Great Britain & Ireland Team selection as well as being a qualifier for the EGU Boys Order of Merit. Only the best under-18 golfers playing off scratch or better are accepted for the tournament, with the handicap ballot for entries usually falling at around scratch.
The tournament is preceded on the Friday by the Junior-’Pro’/Am, where the juniors are the ‘Pros’ for the day, leading a team comprising of 3 amateurs.
The 72 hole main tournament is played off scratch over two days with the competitors playing in 3 balls.
With the cut after the first 36 holes on Saturday, the remaining field (top 36 plus ties) play a further 36 holes on Sunday with the winner receiving the Junior Masters Trophy and Jacket from Sir Henry Cooper.
The Junior Masters aims to replicate every aspect of a Professional European Tour event with corporate hospitality, electronic leaderboards, TV coverage, full stewarding and much more.

The Nations Trophy is played for over the first two rounds of the tournament. Three players are nominated from each participating country with the best two scores counting.
In 2009 teams from Denmark, England, Finland, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, South Africa and Wales took part and in the end England’s Jon Bell, Chris Lloyd & Max Smith won the trophy.

The Junior Masters Nations Trophy was presented by John Wilson and his wife Wendy who retired from the Junior Masters committee after serving for ten years as the EGU's representative.
