Chris Lloyd wins The Junior Masters

After four rounds of quality golf Chris Lloyd took the title at The 2009 Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters Golf Championship and received his trophy from tournament director Alan Cheeseman and Sir Henry himself.

The 2009 tounament was played in extremely hot conditions with players doing well to play four rounds of golf in two days inChris Lloyd, Champion 2009 such temperatures.  The first round lead was taken by South African J G Claassens with a score of 65, 7 under par.  In the afternoon a course record equaling 63 by Italian Filippo Zucchetti put him at the top of the leaderboard.  Things didn't go so well for Fillippo in the third round on Sunday morning, the best round was that of England's Max Smith with a gross 64.  Adam Carson of England was the leader into the final round on Sunday afternoon but Chris Lloyd again equaled the course record with a 63 to post a final score of 23 under par which proved to be the winning score.  English boys took the top four places with Adam Carson second on  -19, third Max Smith -18, fourth was last year's winner, Jonathan Bell -16 and Teemu Bakker from Holland took the fifth place with -14.

It was a fantastic spectacle for the spectators watching such talented young golfers, many of whom we will no doubt see on The Tour in the future.  Congratulations to Chris and all the competitors, many of whom we hope to see again at next year's tournament.
